Where Diets Go Wrong
When we decide to lose weight the first thing we do is eat less food, right? We may miss meals or eat small amounts in the hope that our body will burn off the fat on it's own. In actual fact eating less makes it more difficult to lose weight.
When researchers compare overweight and thin people they find that they both eat roughly the same number of calories. What makes overweight people different is the amount of fat they consume. Thin people eat less fat and more complex carbohydrates.
It is important to remember that losing weight is not something you can do overnight. A carefully planned weight loss program requires common sense and certain guidelines. Unfortunately there is a lot of bad information around and lots of desperate people are easily dued and ripped off.
Everyday we open magazines and newspapers with advertisements touting some new product, pill or patch that will take excess weight off quickly. There are too many people looking for that "magic" cure. Millions of us are trying to lose weight spending billions every year on diet programmes and weight loss products. Often you can lose some weight but over the coming years you put it back on, and more besides!
A survery was carried out recently to try and determine if any commercial diet program could provide long term success and surprisingly, not a single program could do so.
A common myth is that people get heavy by eating too many calories. Calories are a consideration, it's true, but overall they are not the cause of obesity. We actually take in fewer cleries each day than we did at the beginning of the century. Therefore, if caleries alone are the reason we become overweight, we should all be thin. Collectively we are heavier than ever. Partly because we are more sedentary now, but equally important is the fact that the fat content of our diet has changed dramatically.
People who diet without exercise often get fatter with time. Although the weight may initially drop while dieting, such weight loss mainly consists of water and muscle. When the weight returns it comes back as fat. Therefore to avoid getting fatter over time we need to increase the metabolism by exercising regularly. Select an exercise routine that you are confortable with and remember that walking is one of the best and easiest exercises for strengthening your bones, controlling your weight and toning your muscles.

I am a 39 (soon to be 40) year old male living in the UK. For years I have been "slightly" over weight as I am sure we all think. One day I was in the gym and got on one of those machines that gives you your "ideal" weight and I was shocked. I was actually 40lbs over weight. I looked at various ways of losing it and in the end came up with my own solution. It worked, so I wrote a book to help others.
I hope you enjoy it.

In our western culture, we have used to emphasize greatly on dinner as the most important meal of the day and this particular meal is the heaviest of all meals. This practice has been on going for so long but unfortunately it is not the right way of having meals. In fact, breakfast should be the most important meal of the day while dinner should not be heavy. The reason for this is that breakfast is the starting meal of the day and it provides us with all the necessary energy to keep us going throughout the day while dinner being the last meal of the day, should not be too heavy or loaded since we do not need that much energy while sleeping at night.
Going to the bathroom can be an excellent time to learn to feel some of deeper anatomy. Doing a number two, these muscles are all used while we are pushing. As a result we can use this time to feel where they are and what if feels like when they are all contracted together. We then may find it easier to use them individually. The psoas is handy to learn and control when doing forward bending, backbending and even handstands (when jumping up.) The diaphragm is a muscle that we can use for deep relaxed breathing.
